Composing

Dr. Rector’s piece Music for Clarinet and Piano will be performed at the 2008 Society of Composers, Inc. National Conference in February. (His piece Shabbat Shalom — for choir, horn and piano — was performed at last year’s conference.)

Leonora Helm will perform Dr. Rector's piece Silhouette (for voice and piano) at her recital on February 18, 2008

North Carolina Central University Operatorio will perform Dr. Rector's second opera Mystery Date on April 2, 2008.

Dr. Rector’s solo piano piece Blitzkrieg was included in a lecture/recital entitled The Black Composer: Influence, Inspiration and Identity given by Dr. Marie-Louise Catsalis, who also performed the piece. The dates and places the lecture/recital was given are as follows:

Writing

A second horror novel is well underway. Dr. Rector intends to complete it by summer 2008.

Independent Filmmaking

A new vision of Dr. Rector and M. J. Solomon Productions’ latest film project Fallen Diva has arisen during post-production. Production recently resumed and new scenes are currently being filmed.
